The year is 2110 and The McAllister’s Institute for the Gifted is an international school for the brightest of the bright. It’s a boarding school nestled on the outskirts of London. The Institute (what the student’s call it) is a place where science and math prevail and some of the brightest scientists in the world work, teaching the next generation about things the rest of the world would have thought was science fiction.
However, teenagers will be teenagers and in a place filled with so much learning and experimenting, curiosity is something that is encouraged. It was curiosity that leads a group of teenagers into a restricted area of the school. It was curiosity that leads them down a deserted hall. It was curiosity that leads them into a locked room and it was curiosity that leads one student to pressing a button that was best left untouched.
Suddenly this band of unfortunate teens is transported back to 1851. It’s the time of Queen Victoria, photography is still not for the masses and it’s the year of the first World Fair. Electric lights don’t even light the streets of London yet. Not able to get home, this band has to figure out how to fit in into this world where proper educate, class and money is everything. A place where most women are only as good as they marry and technology is at best primitive.
They can’t use modern technology for fear of changing delicate fabric of time and possibly erasing their very existence! The best they can possible do is try to fit in while they pray someone at the school realizes what happens and rescues them.
Oh, and to make matters worse, turns out all these years of enlightenment wasn’t enlightened enough. It soon becomes apparent that muggers, rapists and psychopaths aren’t the only ones roaming the night. It turns out Vampires weren’t such a myth after all. Too bad modern science never prepared these teenagers for vampire hunting.
